Franka Robotics
Franka Robotics (founded 2016 as Franka Emika by Sami and Simon Haddadin) builds torque-controlled, force-sensitive 7-DoF cobot arms with 1 kHz low-level control access (Franka Control Interface). The Franka Research 3 is a de facto standard platform for robot-learning and embodied-AI research at institutions including MIT, Stanford, ETH Zurich, Max Planck and NVIDIA. After 2023 insolvency it was acquired by Agile Robots (Nov 2023, reported EUR 30M+), renamed Franka Robotics GmbH, and continues as a distinct brand with its own products and Munich operations; production runs at Agile Robots' Kaufbeuren site. The 1,000th FR3 was produced in February 2025.
