The FFRobot combines advanced image processing and AI-based fruit detection with ROS-based robotic control to identify usable fruit, reject damaged or unripe produce, and pick without bruising. The self-propelled platform carries 12 telescoping arms (six per side) with three-fingered grippers that emulate the human hand-picking motion, delivering fruit by conveyor to bins in the orchard. Development of the autonomy stack was part-funded by the EU Horizon 2020 ROBOHARVEST project (grant 954038).
