Brainlab designs and builds its own surgical robots rather than integrating third-party arms: Loop-X is a self-driving mobile imaging robot with independently moving source and detector panels for non-isocentric intraoperative imaging, controlled wirelessly from a tablet, and Cirq is a modular robotic arm that robotically fine-tunes alignment to pre-planned trajectories from the company's navigation software. The robots are tightly coupled to Brainlab's surgical navigation, planning and mixed-reality software stack, which supplies the trajectory planning and image registration the robotic hardware executes. Cirq hardware originates from Medineering, the robotics developer Brainlab seed-funded in 2017 and acquired outright in March 2019.
