AeroVironment
Founded in 1971 by aeronautics pioneer Paul MacCready, AeroVironment's current line is small and medium tactical UAS, loitering munitions and uncrewed ground vehicles with increasing onboard autonomy. The P550 Group 2 eVTOL, unveiled October 2024, is built on a Modular Open Systems Approach with AI-driven autonomy, 5+ hour all-electric endurance and 15 lb multi-sensor payload. The company's software stack includes the AVACORE platform and Kinesis common-control autonomy acquired with Tomahawk Robotics (2023); Telerob (2021) supplies its EOD UGV line from a German UGV headquarters in Ostfildern. Completed a ~$4.1B merger with BlueHalo on May 1, 2025, adding space, counter-UAS, directed energy and cyber capabilities.
